Unidentified Offshore Ship

Floating in the water just off the shores of Honshu, Japan's main island. It looks like a simple yacht that happened to be out on a cruise to unsuspecting eyes. To those who knew, it was actually the home base for the Britannian army in Japan. It was small, and that was why the Federation overlooked it.

Standing on the deck was a young man with red hair. He watched the mainland with disinterest, leaning against the small railing.

Across from the young man was a woman cleaning her off a katana blade. She looked up for a moment at the sky and frowned. "Rain," she pointed at to the sky as clouds formed in the distance.

The man looked up and nodded. "I do love a good rain, don't you, Abunai?" he said, turning to face her. "People don't like fighting in the rain, so I get to sleep right here."

Rose looked up at Sosa and stared at him.

"I like it," she said.

Sosa smiled and slid down to a sitting position. "Soothing," he said, feeling the conversation wilting by the second. He shrugged it off, used to it.

Rose picked up her equipment and put it over her shoulder. She looked around made sure she had collected it all. "Have we....arrived?" Rose said, slowly pronouncing each word.

Sosa looked back at the island and sighed. "It would look like it," he sighed, standing. He stretched and walked toward the stairs that lead to the rooms below deck. "I suppose we should head down and get final orders from the man living in the radio, huh?"

Rose headed down stairs and sat across from the radio and awaited orders. After she got down there she looked back at Sosa and added a, "Yes," as an afterthought.

Sosa shook his head and grinned stupidly. The radio crackled to life, cutting off anything he was going to say.

'Alright, kiddos,' the voice said gruffly. He sounded like he was in a tin can. 'The mission here is simple. Infiltrate the UFN base just west of the docks. They've got a new Knightmare frame that we need to either destroy or steal. I want you both out alive, so either is acceptable.'

The radio crackled into silence, leaving the room quiet.

"He always was a man of few words," Sosa said, rubbing the back of his head.

Rose nodded. "It's strange," she said before heading back up the stairs. She pulled out the glider backpack from the back of the yacht.

Gliders were backbacks with wings and engines attached. They gave people the ability to fly, with some speed, but were extremely dangerous to operate if you didn't know how. With this breaking into the base would be doable, though if they weren't careful they would be easily detected.

Sosa grabbed his glider backpack from the top of the stairs, having expected to leave sooner than they had. He strapped it on and joined Rose and the deck. "I suppose we should get going, then. The rain will mess with the gliders, so we need to be back before it starts."

That said, he pulled a cord on the back and leaped off the deck toward the water. The wings opened and the engine roared to life. He leveled with the water and flew toward the mainland.

Rose followed Sosa and dropped low before letting the glider take off. She liked to fly close to the water and feel it spray gently into her face.

Using the glider-packs, it did not take long for them to reach the mainland. Sosa found an empty dock and landed on it, pulling another cord on the pack that turned off the engines and pulled in the wings just before his feet touched down. He landed running to keep from falling flat on his face, waiting for his partner to join him.
